Rating the Covers of My 27 Last Reads of 2019

1) "Kirke" by Madeline Miller

A wonderful and atmospheric cover which

fits the feel of the book itself. I loved this

novel, and it's cover is no exception. 8/10.

2) "We Were Liars" by E. Lockhart

It definitely suits the story, so I guess it

gets points for that. However, I'm not completely

sold on it. 5/10.

3) "Call me by your name" by André Aciman

A movie cover! I loved the movie, which

has me liking this cover as well. Also, it

gives me them good IKEA colour vibes. 7/10.

4) "Rör mig inte!" by Tahereh Mafi

Um... I really don't like this cover. Don't

get me wrong; I've seen worse. But this...

just no. 3/10.

5) "Animal Farm" by George Orwell

Wow! So cool! I love it! The art, the colours,

and connection to the story. I'm in love!

This gets 9/10.

6) "The DUFF" by Kody Keplinger

Being a photographic cover consisting

of mostly a face, I'm surprised I don't dislike

it more than I do. Actually, I don't dislike it.

I think it's kinda nice. The font, her expression,

and the bubblegum gives it a nice kick. 7/10.

7) "Liftarens guide till galaxen" by Douglas Adams

Simple and maybe a little vintage? The

astronaut's face is a tad strange, but

I don't think it ruins the rest of the cover.

It is a bit plain, though. 5/10.

8) "Siddhartha" by Herman Hesse

I didn't like this book, but WOW do I

like this cover! I think it's gorgeous,

to be honest. It's not top score pretty,

but definitely an 8/10.

9) "The Copper Gauntlet" by Holly Black & Cassandra Clare

I like how the whole series has matching

covers, and they're all detailed and fit

each book's story well. I am enjoying this

series and its covers. 7/10.

10) "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" by Stephen Chbosky

*angel choir sounds* ooooAAAAaaa~

Very pretty, soft, cute, and all that jazz.

Loved the book, love this cover. Let it

live forever. 9/10.

11) "The Golden Compass" by Philip Pullman

I think this is a cover that translates

poorly as an image on a screen, because

irl, this is golden and shiny af, and I'm

living for it. Sure, it's not the prettiest

cover ever, but the shininess is boosting

that rating! 6/10.

12) "The Subtle Knife" by Philip Pullman
I bought the boxed set and hoped for
shininess, but was let down. So this is not
as glamorous as it could've been. Ends up
pretty dull. 4/10.


13) "Eliza och hennes monster" by Francesca Zappia
A cute cover with pleasant colours
and a happy looking spine. The style
of drawing on the front is not really my
cup of tea, but it's okay. 7/10 :)

14) "Drömtjuvarna" by Maggie Stiefvater
A pretty cover in a pretty cover series.
Like I said in my "Covers in the world"
post about the Raven Cycle series, I
think Sweden did the best job with this
second cover. Still, it's not my favourite
cover of the four. 7/10.

15) "Sovarna" by Maggie Stiefvater
You guessed it; this is my fave cover
in the series. With soothing shades
of green and a killer illustration job,
this is a piece of art. 9/10.


16) "Seraphina" by Rachel Hartman
The atmospheric, medieval inspired,
dragon vibes are here and they're here
to stay! Though the colours are subtle,
I love this cover and it's attention to
detail. 8/10!

17) "The Raven King" by Maggie Stiefvater
From time to time, one encounters a
cover that is nice in design, but awful
in physical quality. That was the case
with this book. It's very plastic and shiny.
Drags the grade down a notch. 6/10.

18) "Den sorgsna sjön" by Lemony Snicket
Third book in the series that I've read
so far. These covers are cute and hold
a good standard for the entire series.
It's a clear 7/10 for them all :)


19) "Firefight" by Brandon Sanderson
I adore every British Sanderson cover
out there, and this is no exception.
Lovely style, colours, and motive.
Only the font feels a bit cheap... But
that might be because 13 year old
me downloaded it from Dafont
and used it back in the day. 8/10.

20) "Calamity" by Brandon Sanderson
Weakest cover in the trilogy,
unfortunately. A bit messy and too
dark in shade. Doesn't really match
the rest very well, either. 6/10.

21) "Wayward Son" by Rainbow Rowell
Colourful and uplifting. Just seeing the
characters on the cover makes me
happy. Bas' suit is fire! 8/10.


22) "Sent i november" by Tove Jansson
A Moomin book! The spine is cute,
but the front is lacking in composition.
This lowers it to a 4/10.

23) "The Young Elites" by Marie Lu
It's a bit boring, but not ugly. I
like the shade of blue, and the font
is nice, but that's all I can say
that's positive. Nothing glaringly
negative, though. 6/10.

24) "Nattens cirkus" by Erin Morgenstern
Might I say this is iconic for
modern day historical fantasy
fiction? This book has many
different covers, but most uphold
the same style and standard. This is
no exception. 9/10.


25) "This is How You Lose the Time War" by Amal El-Mohtar & Max Gladstone
A clean and classy cover with little
to point out. It's just nice. 7/10!

26) "The Archived" by Victoria Schwab
'Tis a face, indeed. But I also
kind of like it. Nice colours and
composition. 7/10.

27) "The Priory of the Orange Tree" by Samantha Shannon
I will take this cover's hand in
marriage, happily. This is a
beautiful pearl in my book
collection. It's even more
gorgeous in real life! 10/10.

Top 10 Most Disappointing Books of 2019

Greetings!
Something that I genuinely enjoy is discussing books that I didn't like. I know some people are of the opinion that one should hold back strong criticism in order to spare the feelings of the author and fans of the novel. I agree that one should avoid hurting feelings, and my intent is rarely to do so. However, I also feel that where criticism is due, it should be given. If a lot of criticism is due, then I'm ready to give it if I feel that what I say is reasonable. I don't think that makes me a "hater". Nevertheless, negative feedback should be weighed up with positive feedback when such can be given, and on that front I admit that I sometimes have some ways to go.
Having said this, I love discussing books that I didn't like. I also love making lists. Here is the result of those two! I read 60 books in 2019, and I was never bound to love all of them. The books you'll see in this list might be books that I enjoyed to an extent, but had certain flaws that I just couldn't overlook and which lowered my opinion of the entire novel. Other books are ones that I just didn't enjoy at all for several different reasons. Each book in the list will have some explanation to it, and you can click the titles of each book to be taken to my original review of that particular novel.

"Red Queen" by Victoria Aveyard

In my review of this book, I speak about it having potential. That is true, but there are reasons for it being on this list. Despite its potential, I found the writing style clumsy, rushed, and ungraceful. The characters were poorly built, and the protagonist didn't have anything going for her. I just didn't really enjoy this book, and thus despite receiving 3/5 stars, this book is still a part of this list.

"Den sorgsna sjön" by Lemony Snicket

 I've read three books from this series in 2019, and I've not disliked them. The first is my favourite so far, but the last two just didn't do it for me. I want to say that this series has a very unique narrative and atmosphere, and it is definitely worth giving a shot if you think you'd like it. Alas, I have failed to find much pleasure in the last two books. Therefore, this one received 2.75/5 stars.

"The DUFF" by Kody Keplinger

Another book that gets a lower rating because it lacked anything that could bump it up. This book tried to take the common trope/cliche of high school girl (who is considered less attractive than some of the other high school girls) who falls for the hottest boy in the school, and then he falls for her too after a ton of drama and physical character development. I appreciate that it offered more character depth than I'd anticipated, and that it dealt with sex in an open way, but unfortunately I personally got little enjoyment out of this book. It got 2.75/5 stars from me.

"I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You" by Ally Carter

I feel like a parrot, but this is once again a novel that just lacked good points to me. Perhaps it would have been more appealing if I'd read it a few years back, but when reading it this year I felt that I was not at all in the intended targeted group. It's still a bit fun and whimsical, but it fell flat to me, and I ended up giving it 2.75/5 stars.

"Miss Mayhem" by Rachel Hawkins

I read "Rebel Belle" in May and found it humorous and fast paced. It saddened me that I really couldn't get into this second book in the trilogy. The plot was driven by unreasonable and forced decisions or actions from the characters, the relationships lost their charm, and even the humour left me hanging. I was disappointed to say the least, and I therefore gave this book 2.75/5 stars.

"Chanslös" by Gail Carriger

Much like "Miss Mayhem", his is the second book in a series. In this case, I read the first book way back in 2013 and actually gave it a full 5 star rating. Perhaps my different perception of this novel is due to changes in my reading tastes, though that doesn't alter the fact that I strongly disliked this novel. What I still like about the series is the world building and the unique setting of an alternative historical, steampunk, fantasy London. There's also still some of the charm and humour left from the first book. However, this second instalment featured some very annoying characters and at times it became too much of a parody of itself. I gave this book 2.5/5 stars.

"The Subtle Knife" by Philip Pullman

As the third book on this list as the second in a series, this is the worst of them. Honestly, just thinking about this makes me grumpy. I thought that "The Golden Compass" was a great novel with enticing world building and nice characters. In this sequel, all of that is ripped away, and what we're left with was so bad in comparison. I felt like I was promised a three course meal but only got the glass of water. I gave this 2.5/5 stars.

"Så talade Zarathustra" by Friedrich Nietzsche

I still can't believe I actually read this. 300+ pages of hard-to-grasp philosophy (I didn't understand most of what I think Nietzsche was trying to convey) that took me several months to complete. I definitely think it's cool that I read it all, but I can't say I enjoyed the process very much. At times I found the writing style entertaining and witty, but Zarathustra was also a character that I had a hard time sympathising with. He appeared very sexist, antisemitic, and rude at several points. In the end, it was a bit painful to read and I didn't get much out of it, so it received 2.25/5 stars from me.

"Mor gifter sig" by Moa Martinson

Not a book that I strongly dislike, but it got in second place because it didn't do anything for me. I had to read it for school, and I had a hard time getting through it or finding any interest in its contents. I do appreciate what it represents; working class women during a time when the patriarchy had a firmer grip on society in Sweden than it has today. Other than that, I got nothing out of it, and I won't continue on with the series. It got 2/5 stars.

"Siddhartha" by Herman Hesse

The one book this year that I just cannot find any positive sides of. There just were none. Unless one didn't already have the "wisdom" that this philosophical work has to offer, one will see what I mean. If I'd actually learnt something from this, I would probably have been more merciful. However, this just didn't cut it. It's not one of the worst books I've ever read, but it's certainly the worst book I read in 2019. I gave it 2/5 stars.

The 10 Most Unpleasant Reads of the 2010's

I know some people say you shouldn't point out books that you didn't like or talk negatively about them. Well, listen here... I'll speak ill of books that I found were genuinely bad. I am allowed to express my opinion! And if you don't agree, that is absolutely fine. However, maybe this list can do good and spare future readers of the torment I went through? Whatever you may think, here is a list of the most disappointing books I read in the 2010's.
Note: Because these are all books that I rated pretty low, I'll just mention them in chronological order rather than bad to worst. So we'll go from the book I read first to the one I read most recently.

1) "Kabinettets hemlighet" ("The Secret of the Cabinet") by Martin Widmark

After loving "Ruby Red" by Kerstin Gier in 2012, I stumbled upon this. I was looking for more time travel books at the time, so I picked it up in the store. I now regret that I did. With an average rating of 2.97/5 stars on Goodreads, this was a horrible book. The characters were unlovable, the story was boring, and some scenes were just sooooo bad that I still remember them clear in my memory even though it's been more than six years since I read this. If you enjoy life, stay away from this novel.

2) "Korsad" ("Crossed") by Ally Condie

The sequel to "Matched", which I didn't necessarily dislike, but didn't like very much either upon reading it. However, back then I was obsessed with finishing every series I started, and I was not about to make an exception. "Korsad" was a step down from "Matched". It was boring, slow, and not much else.

3) "The Vampire Diaries" series by L.J. Smith

Remember how I said I used to be obsessed with finishing series? This is a great example of that. I hated this entire series, from start to end, yet I was determined to see it through. These books were poorly planned out and written. The main character was a pain in the ass. This is one of few cases where the movie/TV series adaption is far better than the books.

4) "The Assassin's Curse" by Cassandra Rose Clarke

Such a beautiful cover, yet such ugliness inside... This book had me intrigued with its promises of assassins, pirates, adventure, and a bad ass female protagonist. Well, she was winy and frustrating, the adventure was about as exciting as the forgotten pair of black socks in the bottom of the drawer, and and romance was dry like knäckebröd. Such a let down.

5) "Simon & Sophie" by Emma Granholm

A contemporary YA novel I had to read for school back in 7th grade. One of the protagonists, Sophie, was widely annoying and off-putting. I couldn't stand her, and I never would have read this book if I didn't have to. This is one of the books that have contributed to my scepticism towards modern Swedish YA literature.

6) "The Whispers of the Fallen" by J.D. Netto

Aaaaah this was so bad and I actually had such high expectations. I read this for the 2014 BookTube-A-Thon (now known as The Reading Rush), so I don't remember the plot or my thoughts exactly very well. I do know that the writing style felt plastic and fake, the pace of the story was off, the characters were just embarrassingly bad, and the plot idea felt like a Lord of the Rings cheap knockoff.

7) "Tiger's Curse" by Colleen Houck

Mm, the popular web story turned published book. If only this book lived up to the hype. Alas, it certainly did not. The protagonist, though attempted to be written as bad-ass, came off as a damsel in distress who needed a strong man to protect her. The writing style was so repetitive that it felt like a broken record, as if the writer only knew how to describe things in one single way. Overall, this book had potential, especially with its setting in India, but it was so incredibly awful to read.

8) "Ett öga rött" by Jonas Hassen Khemiri

I was reluctant to include this, because I also included "Allt jag inte minns" in my top 5 best books I read for school... but I cannot deny that I strongly disliked this novel. It's supposed to be a good look through the perspective of a young boy who is second generation immigrant, and it would have been great if it did that well... But I was extremely unsettled by the protagonist's crude language, which was extremely racist mostly towards black people and very sexist. I enjoyed none of that at all.

9) "Det handlar om dig" by Sandra Beijer

This is a book that I actually won when I participated in competition over on another book blog a few years back. I was stoked to win the package of books, but this book was just not very good. I could not relate at all to the female protagonist. Though she was very different from me as a person, I believe that a good writer can have the reader sympathising with any character. This was not the case here. She was unpredictable, rude, and abusive.

10) "Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea" by April Genevieve Tucholke

I looooove this cover, but the story itself was a total flop. It was supposed to be all about the eerie atmosphere and the dark, dangerous romance. Guess what is was? Clumsy, badly written, and absolutely sexist. There was one character in particular who would just spit out hatred towards women all the time and this behaviour was just excused by the other characters because 'that's just who he is'. Fuck that.

Various Top 5 and 10 Lists From My 2010's Reading

I just love making lists, and as the decade approaches its end, I thought it appropriate to summarise the past years with some bookish lists of different topics. This is just a collection of 'lesser important lists', and I will of course be posting summaries of the best and worst books I read both in 2019 and during the entire decade. Top 5 Books That Made Me Cry

Not every good book has to make me tear up, though some novels I remember as being extra sad. No, I didn't cry happy tears at these; they were sad af. Anyways, here are some books for you if you're looking to cry a river.
(Also, tiny spoiler alert on this one)


1) "Längtans rike" ("The Sweet Far Thing") by Libba Bray
One of the first books over which I truly cried. This finale made a real impact on me. It's the final book in a series, so be warned.


2) "Stoner" by John Williams
Oh, Stoner... I cannot seem to talk enough about this book. Read it, please. It's a modern classic from the 1960's that just needs more attention. This is a standalone novel.


3) "Clockwork Princess" by Cassandra Clare
The best I've read by Clare so far, and the only story I've ever read that features an actually good love triangle drama. Mind you, this is also the last in a series.


4) "All the Light We Cannot See" by Anthony Doerr
A tragic story set in France and Germany during WWII, following two young protagonists on different sides of the war. This is a standalone novel.


5) "We Were Liars" by E. Lockhart
Truly a novel I didn't like very much, but I cannot deny that the final part of it had me crying in the most uncomfortable way. It was purely stress and anxiety related, more connected to my own fears than the actual impact of the story telling. Still, I did cry a bunch.

Top 5 Books I Read For School

Some books I read for school were pretty bad, but some of them were pretty good! It's sure nice not all of them were horrible. So let's celebrate the ones I liked! Here are the 5 best books I read for school.

1) "The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time" by Mark Haddon

My class had to read this in 7th grade (in Swedish), but I cheated and read it in English on my own outside of class. This is an indulging story of a young boy with autism and the adventure he goes on due to the mystery of a murdered dog. It's a book that I learned from and I'm grateful that I 'had' to read.

2) "The Kite Runner" by Khaled Hosseini

A book that I read for 9th grade English class. I wasn't super into it at the beginning, but it grew on me. It's full of gruesome scenes and emotions that really get you as a reader.

3) "The Picture of Dorian Gray" by Oscar Wilde

One of my now all-time favourite books. I read this in 1st grade of Swedish so-called 'gymnasiet' (aka I was 16) and it really opened up my eyes to the world of good classics. It's written in a flourishing way and has a bunch of charming characters.

4) "Niceville" ("The Help") by Kathryn Stockett

Not the greatest on the list, but still a book that I really enjoyed while reading it. It is kind of iffy when a white woman writes from the perspective of black women in the 1960's today, but if one overlooks that, it's a novel of great female characters and an interesting story. This is one of few books that I've listened to as audio books. 

5) "Allt jag inte minns" ("Everything I Don't Remember") by Jonas Hassen Khemiri

The single Swedish book on this list. I'd been introduced to Khemiri's writing before by the same teacher, though that earlier book was one I really disliked. Luckily, this one was a whole lot better. I read it in 2nd grade of 'gymnasiet' for Swedish class. It's about the fear or forgetting things and not living your life to the fullest. Very nice, I recommend it!

Top 5 Prettiest Book Covers

Of course there's a sea of beautiful covers out there, but I'll only include books that I've actually read, just to narrow it down a good bunch. If I've read one edition and later bought it in another edition, I'll only rate the one I read. They're on no particular order. Let's go!

1) "Alice's Adventures in Wonderland & Other Stories" by Lewis Carroll

Pink, shiny, leather bound, and weird. What's not to love?

2) "A Darker Shade of Magic" by V.E. Schwab

It's white, black, red, clean, and classy. The covers for this entire series are iconic.

3) "Days of Blood and Starlight" by Laini Taylor

This cover is BIG and BOLD. The face comes off as real life sized and the lettering is just there. The spine is also cool. All of it just catches your attention and keeps it there for a while.

4)"The Diviners" by Libba Bray

One of my favourite covers of all time. I'll never fully forgive Little, Brown Books for the cover change they made for this series... Scandalous! Anyways, this first edition is gorgeous and I would totally take its hand in marriage.

5) "The Priory of the Orange Tree" by Samantha Shannon

*angel choir noises* Wow! The popping colours, the fierce dragon... this is a banger cover! I love to see the spine in my shelves.

Top 5 Most Forgettable Books

If you're a very active reader, or you've been a reader for a long time, you'll eventually look back on your list of read books and realise that there are titles on it that you barely think about anymore, or you can hardly remember what they were about or quite what you thought of them. You might even ask; "Did I really read that?". I feel like that with a few of the books I've read these past years, and here is a list of them. Were they bad? Were they good? I can't quite remember...

Note: As you might expect, there are no books on the list that I read in 2019, because I haven't had much time to forget them yet :/

1) "Flickan med glasfötter" ("The Girl with Glass Feet") by Ali Smith

Though I can't remember when or where I got this book, I know that I read it back in late 2012. I recall that it felt a bit too adult-ish for me back then, but that I did still enjoy parts of it. I gave it 3/5 stars, but I can't say that I remember much of the plot or the characters at all...

2) "Jellicoe Road" by Melina Marchetta

I received this from a family friend and was super stoked to read it. And I think I enjoyed it, but not enough to really remember it well. I read another book my Marchetta, "Saving Francesca", which I enjoyed more and recall somewhat more of.

3) "Små mekaniska mirakel" ("Small Change for Stuart") by Lissa Evans

I bought this at a Book Fair some years back because I thought the cover was gorgeous and I was on a wild book shopping spree. Nothing could stop me! However, as I look back now I can barely remember what this book was even about. I didn't enjoy it a bunch. Like the other books so far, this received an average rating of 3/5 stars.

4) "Hourglass" by Myra McEntire

Look at that cover! Stunning! This is a book I wanted to get my hands on both because the cover is super sleek and because the story is about time travel! I had sky high expectations for this back when I read it in 2014, but it kind of flopped. It wasn't such a big disappointment that I still remember it as such, though rather than that, I barely remember it at all.

5) "Så har jag det nu" ("How I Live Now") by Meg Rosoff

I actually do remember the plot of this pretty well when I try to, but I still manage to repress the memory of its existence as soon as I can again after. This is a book I read for school in 2017, and I think the only reason I still remember what it was about is that I discussed the plot a lot with my classmates. I also strongly remember that is was not very good.

Top 10 Biggest Books

I like biiig books and I cannot lie! Well, at least the good ones. The others are just impossible to finish. Here is simply a list of the 10 chunkiest books I read in the past eight years (which is the only time I've kept record of). I set a rule that there can only be one book from each series, but one author can have several different books on the list. So it won't just be full of Harry Potter books ;)

1) "Så länge vi båda andas" ("Breaking Dawn") by Stephenie Meyer (560 pages)

It's been a minute since I read Twilight, but read them I did. A lot of times, actually. Or, well, not a ton, but at least four times, not counting the times I just flipped to my favourite scenes and only read those over and over again.

2) "Clockwork Princess" by Cassandra Clare (571 pages)

I really liked this series, and still remember it as the only YA novels to ever execute a love triangle well. I stand by that statement, but of course I hope to sometime in the future find another story to also manage with that task. Until then, this is still at the top.

3) "The Diviners" by Libba Bray (578 pages)

Mentioned before as one of the most beautiful covers of the decade (at least of what I've read), this is also a kinda chunky book. Not the biggest in the shelves, but definitely takes up some space. It's also hella tall.

4) "Boktjuven" ("The Book Thief") by Markus Zusak (586 pages)

I sadly was never blown away by "The Book Thief", though I do consider it a good novel. I just remember that those 586 pages really felt like 586 pages...

5) "Eld" ("Fire") by Mats Strandberg & Sara Bergmark Elfgren (634 pages)

A series that has so far restored my hope in Swedish YA literature. Although I haven't finished the third and final book yet, I can say that this series is full of dark magic, great perspectives, and well written teenage voices.

6) "Yttersta offret" ("Last Sacrifice") by Richelle Mead (646 pages)

I flew through most of this series earlier this year and had a lot of fun while doing so! I have good memories from the whole thing. Unfortunately, the series peaked with its third instalment, and this final book was not my favourite. However, I look forward to continuing on with the "Bloodlines" series eventually.

7) "City of Heavenly Fire" by Cassandra Clare (725 pages)

Not the greatest series finale in the history of finales, and it only received three stars from me. I used to love this series, but perhaps I've grown out of it? It certainly didn't have to be this many pages at least.

8) "Längtans rike" ("The Sweet Far Thing") by Libba Bray (799 pages)

Wow! I don't remember this being so many pages! I guess that's evidence of a wonderful book. It's no secret that this series is one of my all time favourite reads, and I doubt that will change for a long time to come. If you're looking for dark, mysterious, historical fantasy, this is for you!

9) "The Priory of the Orange Tree" by Samantha Shannon (804 pages)

This was one hell of a brick, but one that I liked. This cover is stunning and the high fantasy politics had me hooked. Definitely a book to be remembered!

10) "Harry Potter och Fenixorden" ("Harry Potter and the Order of the Pheonix") by J.K. Rowling (1008 pages)

First of all, can we talk about the Swedish covers for Harry Potter? Gorgeous! This is, of course, the fifth book in the series, and the edition I've known all my life is just over 1000 pages. To this day, it's the only book I've ever read that reaches above 1000. It's also a very good book!

Top 5 Thinnest Books

Just like there are dem thicc bricks, there are also novels that are almost impressively short. Some are, of course, novellas and short stories, but we'll count that in as well! As long as it is its own physical book (so not part of a collection), it counts! As with the big books, I'll include no more than one book from a series.

1) "The Little Prince" by Antione de Saint-Exupéry (109 pages)

A wonderful little book that has gotten all the attention it deserves! I feel that I should reread it at some point, though I don't know when. If you haven't read it yet, I recommend that you check it out!

2) "Alla mina vänner är superhjältar" ("All My Friends are Superheroes") by Andrew Kaufman (108 pages)

Unfortunately a rather underwhelming and forgettable book... Nevertheless, perhaps useful in a read-athon?

3) "Quidditch Through the Ages" by J.K. Rowling (105 pages)

An informative book on the worlds most exciting sport; Quidditch! I can't remember much of its contents, but I did find it interesting. Worth a read if you're a slightly obsessed Harry Potter fan!

4) "Animal Farm" by George Orwell (95 pages)

A book that felt more like an essay than a novella, and I suppose it sort of is. Either way, I really enjoyed it and want to read it again sometime in the future.

5) "Dr Jekyll och Mr Hyde" ("The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde") by Robert Louis Stevenson (95 pages)

I own one of those mysterious old Swedish translations that are nonexistent on Goodreads (or any other website, for that matter). I wrote an psychoanalysis on this novel for a course I took in literature about two years ago, and I had a jolly time doing it.
